I’ve been in search of the perfect striped shirt. A Breton striped shirt is a classic essential that every woman should have in her closet. According to Stylecaster, “The Breton stripe shirt was first introduced in 1858 as the uniform for all French navy seaman in Northern France. The original design featured 21 stripes, one for each of Napoleon Bonaparte’s victories and the distinctive stripes made it easier to spot wayward sailors who had fallen overboard.”
My must item is this French Sailor’s Shirt, Three-Quarter-Sleeve Boatneck from L.L. Bean for $29.95. I bought it in two colors.
One of my friends, Amy, is the very talented illustrator behind To: The New American. She illustrated the shirt two different ways.
The last illustration is wearing another amazing lust v. must! She is wearing a Banana Republic Lemon Print Full Skirt ($79.50) that is similar to the Kate Spade Owen Skirt ($348).
