National Doughnut Day: 3 of the Best Doughnut Shops in NYC

Happy National Doughnut Day! Yes, it’s a real holiday. Yes, it is a great excuse to eat a doughnut (or two). To celebrate I’ve rounded up some of the best doughnut shops in NYC. If you are in town, you should definitely try these!

Doughnut Plant: Doughnut Plant doughnuts are made fresh daily. They have yeast doughnuts, cake doughnuts, and filled doughnuts. Yeast doughnuts are light and fluffy, cake doughnuts are fluffy and similar to birthday cake, and filled doughnuts are filled with jams, creams, and custards. One of the best filled doughnuts is the Blackout, a chocolate cake doughnut, filled with chocolate pudding, dipped in chocolate glaze and sprinkled with chocolate cake crumbs. They also have doughseeds which are round mini filled doughnuts. Doughseeds come in flavors like Creme Brûlée, Peanut Butter & Blackberry Jam, and Hazelnut Chocolate. Doughnut Plant has an interesting history dating back to 1910.

Dun-Well Doughnuts: Dun-Well Doughnuts is NYC’s first all-vegan doughnut shop. It was created by two best friends from college. The doughnuts are made fresh daily and they have made over 200 flavors of dougnuts. The flavors are unique and include Peanut Butter and Jelly, French Toast, Caramel Popcorn, Green Tea and Ginger, and Chai Tea.

Dough: Dough also has unique flavors such as Chocolate Salted Caramel, Cafe au Lait, and Lemon Ginger.

  1. Wow. This is very exciting news. I would not be surprised if Jennings has never had a doughnut in his life, but I love doughnuts more than pizza. And that is saying something. Maybe I can talk everyone in the family into skipping Christmas and celebrating this instead. Great blog! xo, N.G.

  2. Hey Elana: These look terrific! Have you ever tried the Doughnut Pub? 14th st and 7th? they have been my favorite doughnut haunt, but I intend to head out to Brooklyn and try Dun Well based on this mouthwatering post!
    Enjoying your blog

I'd love to hear from you!
