Getting to Know You:

Getting to know you!

I started this blog as a creative outlet but there have been more benefits than I ever would have imagined! I’ve met people, worked with brands I love, and I’ve even gotten a few job offers from blogging. I’d love to get to know more about the people who stop by and read my posts. I want to learn more about you and I hope that you’ll read through the comments and get to know more about one another! If you also have a blog please leave the link because I’d love to start reading it!

Copy and paste these into the comments section and let me know your answers! I can’t wait to read them and learn more about you!

  1. Love this idea!

Last book you read: I’ve been rereading Kate Brian’s “Private” series, which is basically Gossip Girl meets New England prep school.

Favorite quote: If this was favorite phrase, I say “real talk” all the time before I say something either super truthful, embarrassing, or serious. If we are going for favorite inspirational quote, I’d have to go with one of my favorite Bible verses – Matthew 6:34 – “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” I find myself repeating that a lot–not to get stressed about these huge things (I’m going to be single forever! I want kids and a job!). Instead, I just have to worry about getting through today.

Not so guilty pleasure: I’m a writer, and ever since my super serious Lit/English classes in college, I’ve always felt a little embarrassed that I aspire to write commercial fiction (aka young adult lit or chick lit). It’s just something I’m good at, and honestly, I really enjoy reading myself. I used to always feel like I’d have to say I’m working on some grand piece of literary fiction or I just finished reading David Sedaris’ latest memoir, but now I totally embrace the fun, fluffy fiction side of myself. (See my last book you’ve read section! Also, shameless plug, but my first book is being published this August! So surreal and so exciting to say things like “My agent says…” or “I talked to my publicist and…”)

Favorite spring activity: Sunshine! I know it’s terrible for my skin, but there is nothing better than sitting outside in the sunshine and reading a good book. I’m just glad I got my mother’s skin–I rarely sunburn and have a hard time even tanning.

Where you live: I live in northern Virginia, right outside of Washington, DC. It’s a weird place to live because if you drive fifteen miles in one direction, you’re in the heart of DC. But, fifteen miles in the other direction, you’re in the middle of horse country with rolling hills and quaint little villages. I love it!

Two blogs I’m loving right now: Is it cheesy to say your blog? I really do love it. I’m always so excited when you update! I also love “Feather Factor”, which is written by a woman who has the most amazing taste in luxury goods and writes these incredible recaps of her travels abroad.

    • Thank you so much! This is fun!

I read the entire Private series while I was at boarding school. It is such a good series! I loved them.

I love that verse. SO TRUE!

You have to do what you enjoy! I’d love to read your book when it comes out. What’s it called?

      Yes! Sunshine is the best!

I went to GW so I love DC/Virginia. It is so great that there is that variety. You could go to the White House or go for a long hike!

THANK YOU! I’m so glad that you like it!Oh I’ll have to check out Feather Factor.

Yay! Thank you for reading and commenting!

  2. What a great header on your site and what a fun idea to meet a few folks.
Last book you read: The Goldfinch, Donna Tartt
Favorite quote: “Believe you can and you’re halfway there” Theodore Roosevelt
Not so guilty pleasure: See’s Candy
Favorite spring activity: Working in my garden, dining al fresco
    Where you live: Irvine, California
Two blogs I’m loving right now: Tone on Tone, for the love of a house and 5th and State (I know that’s 3 but I have so many favorites).

    • Thank you!
I’ve been meaning to read The Goldfinch! Did you like it?
That’s one of my favorite quotes as well!
Brunch al fresco is the best 🙂
