Weekend Reading:

10 things I read/watched/saw and loved this week!

1. How to Stop Feeling Like a Fraud (Fast Company): Everyone deals with self-doubt sometimes but it is important to learn how to minimize it. This article has great tips for dealing with the Imposter Syndrome. Maria Klawe, a mathematician, computer scientist, and scholar, lists the three primary ways to gain confidence.

2. 12 Things Successful People Do in the First Hour of the Workday (Inc): This article has great tips for maximizing productivity during the first hour of work. A lot of the points seem self-explanatory but I think that doing them in conjunction with one another can make a big difference! (The fact that I’ve just finished a latte when I get in also helps…)

3. Shawn Achor’s TED Talk (The Happy Secret to Better Work) (Ted Talk): This TED Talk is from 2011. I’m not sure how I found it this week, but I am glad that I did! I was a psychology minor and only studied psychology when I studied abroad. I am fascinated by positive psychology and really enjoyed this TED Talk. It spoke to a lot of what I believe and how I try to live my life!

4. This is a Generic Brand Video: This video is so spot on! I was laughing out loud when I watched it. It was made with stock photos and we all know how much I love stock photos!

5. 7 Things Remarkably Happy People Do Often (Inc): My dad is one of my biggest role models and he does all of these things. I feel so fortunate that he influenced me to have a similar mindset.

6. A Cupcake ATM Dispenses Love (Forbes): Sprinkles has invented a Cupcake ATM. I’m adding this to the list of things I wish I had invented (other things on the list include Snapchat, Facebook, and the wheel). If all of the articles and links I posted about positive psychology don’t work, a Cupcake ATM should lift your spirits! P.S. You can find this in NYC, the concrete jungle where dreams are made of and where you can find dogs in strollers and fur coats so obviously this ATM also has cupcakes for dogs.

7. In Search of Oxford (The New York Times): I studied abroad at Oxford and it was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. This article sums it up very well! I also liked this recent Buzzfeed article about Oxford. I made it a mission to explore Oxford and go to each college while I was there. I am so glad that I left the Bodleian and took advantage of the amazing opportunity. Here are a few photos I looked at after reading the article!

8. At Flatiron Labs, Sara Chipps Is On A Mission To Demystify Coding And Diversify Tech (Fast Company): I had the pleasure of working with Sara at Levo and I was so thrilled to see her featured as one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People!!! Congrats, Sara!

9. Why Likeability Matters More at Work (The Wall Street Journal): It isn’t surprising that this got sent around at work! Likeability matters. This article includes an interesting perspective about why likeability matters even more with videoconferencing and social media. BE NICE!

10. The 15 Most Epic Puppy Stampedes (Buzzfeed): Secret confession. Whenever I am feeling down or stressed I look at pictures of puppies. This is a great roundup.

P.S. These are three of my favorite inspirational quotes this week!

I am in charge of how I feel today and today I choose happiness.

Taking time to live life will only inspire your work.
